Club Blonde

Last Friday night I went out with my bud
To have a few drinks see what we could scare up
We went to a place they call Club Blonde
The line outside was a half mile long
I asked somebody where the name was from
She said ev’rybody knows blondes have more fun

Blondes in blue jeans blondes in black
Low cut dresses with nothin’ in the back
Little short skirts and high heel shoes
Showin’ what they got with nothin’ to lose
Somethin’ tells me this night has just begun
Cause ev’rybody knows blondes have more fun

Ruby red lips seductive eyes
Skintight shorts just to tease the guys
Wherever they go people stop and stare
Just to get a look at that golden hair

There’s Marilyn Monroe Madonna too
Pamela Sue in her Baywatch suit
Lori and Trish and look at Faith Hill
The Line’s gettin’ longer and they’re comin’ still
Theres a place across the street where you can get it done
Cause ev’rybody knows blondes have more fun

Blondes in blue jeans blondes in black
Low cut dresses with nothin’ in the back
Little short skirts and high heel shoes
Showin’ what they got with nothin’ to lose
Somethin’ tells me this night has just begun
Cause ev’rybody knows blondes have more fun

Theres a place across the street where you can get it done
Cause ev’rybody knows blondes have more fun

Ev’rybody knows blondes have more fun

Wasted on the Young

Too bad youth is wasted on the young
Aint it the truth look at the things we done
If we had it to do all over again would we do it the same
Too bad youth is wasted on the young

She was thirteen and growin’ up fast
Wearin’ high heeled shoes and talkin’ ‘bout money
Said she wanted this had to have that
Learn to love a man that’s rich thought it was real funny
Her momma said time flies the older you get
Enjoy it while you’re young it don’t get better than this

Too bad youth is wasted on the young
Aint it the truth look at the things we done
If we had it to do all over again would we do it the same
Too bad youth is wasted on the young

He was fifteen couldn’t wait to drive
Get his first set of wheels and a real sweet honey
He’d call her on the phone say I’ll pick you up at five
We can run away from home do you have any money
First time in love couldn’t wait to be a man
In a hurry growin’ up as fast as he can

Too bad youth is wasted on the young
Aint it the truth look at the things we done
If we had it to do all over again would we do it the same
Too bad youth is wasted on the young

She’s lookin’ in the mirror wondrin’ where the time went
He’s workin’ overtime just tryin’ to make the payments

Too bad youth is wasted on the young
Aint it the truth look at the things we done
If we had it to do all over again would we do it the same
Too bad youth is wasted on the young

Too bad youth is wasted on the young
Aint it the truth look at the things we done
If we had it to do all over again would we do it the same
Too bad youth is wasted on the young

It's Friday Night

My truck’s in the shop and my boots are shot and I’m broke
I like to have a good time but I ain’t got a dime that’s no joke
They laid me off at work I’ve got my pink slip in my shirt
They closed the plant and moved it down to Mexico

I drank ev’ry drop of ev’rything I’ve got guess it shows
And I watched ev’ry show and I pushed the remote till it broke
Well you can have all that TV I’d rather be dancin’ cheek to cheek
On a Friday night out dancing just my baby and me

Well it’s Friday night and I’m ready to boogie with you
But I’m sittin’ at home busted and feelin’ blue
I tried to call you on the phone but it’s dead there’s no dial tone
Well it’s Friday night and I’m ready to boogie with you

All this has gotta stop heck I could just walk I’ve gotta go
All this sittin’ around is makin’ me down even more
Just when I’m headed for the door I hear my baby honk her forn
She say it’s Friday night let’s boogie are you ready to go

Well it’s Friday night and I’m ready to boogie with you
But I’m sittin’ at home busted and feelin’ blue
I tried to call you on the phone but it’s dead there’s no dial tone
Well it’s Friday night and I’m ready to boogie with you

A Full Moon in Texas

Tonight there’s a glow in the sky
And I whisper your name like I do every time
Guess I’ll never forget how we wished on a star
From the sands of South Padre where you stole my heart
Now there’s always a place that’s still true
On a Full Moon in Texas with you

I remember how we danced so close
That night out on the beach
And the moon it seemed to shine so bright
And barely out of reach
But most of all I still recall
How your face just lit up the night
Now forever I’m true
Thank heaven I knew
A Full Moon in Texas with you

The mystery is hard to explain
But it drew us just like that old moth to the flame
From a black & white movie where boy I sure fell
Like a man under some kind of magical spell
What they say about love is sure true
On a Full Moon in Texas with you

I remember how we danced so close
That night out on the beach
And the moon it seemed to shine so bright
And barely out of reach
But most of all I still recall
How your face just lit up the night
Now forever I’m true
Thank heaven I knew
A Full Moon in Texas with you

Now forever I’m true
Thank heaven I knew
A Full Moon in Texas with you

I Cried for Momma

Me and little brother   playin’ out in the driveway
One of those silly games that… children play
I took off a runnin’   tripped and skinned my knee
Went runnin’ for the door so she could see
I cried for momma… I cried for momma

Growin up there were girlfriends and there was breakin’ up
Not a big deal ‘til I  fell in love
She was a cutie .. it hit me right between the eyes
I never said much… but inside
I cried for momma… I cried for momma

Cause momma always made it better with her hug and her touch
Wipe away the tears get a band-aid Lord it didn’t take much
And Momma always came a-runnin’ anytime I would fall
And all those times my back was up against the wall
I cried for momma
I cried for momma

Grown up with a family of my very own
I learned to talk to momma on the telephone
She told me stories and I told her some of mine
And on the day I saw her smile for the very last time
I cried for momma… I cried for momma

Cause momma always made it better with her hug and her touch
Wipe away the tears get a band-aid Lord it didn’t take much
And Momma always came a-runnin’ anytime I would fall
And on the night I wrote this song
I cried for momma
Cause momma always came a-runnin’

In the Morning Light

In the ev’nings as the sun went down he’d walk out on the stage
On the front porch of a cabin in the hills is where he’d play
His songs of love were from the heart but she knew he’d go away
Cause he had grand ole dreams to go and make himself a name

In the mornin’ light… in the pourin’ rain
A battered case and his ole guitar was all he chose to take
In the monrin’ light… as he drove away
She knew he’d be comin’ back some day

At times she’d cry as the weeks went by and she might get a card
He’d say he loved and missed her but getting’ heard was hard
He promised he’d come back one day he said just keep on prayin
The lord would let the right ears hear the songs he’d come to play

In the mornin’ light… in the pourin’ rain
A battered case and his ole guitar was all he chose to take
In the monrin’ light… as he drove away
She knew he’d be comin’ back some day

One day on the radio she heard ‘em say his name
Then an old familiar melody she knew she’d heard him play
And as big tears of missin’ him came rollin’ down her face
She thought she heard that pickup truck come rumblin’ down the lane

In the mornin’ light… in the pourin’ rain
A battered case and his ole guitar was all he chose to take
In the monrin’ light… as he drove away
She knew he’d be comin’ back some day

In the mornin’ light… in the pourin’ rain
A battered case and his ole guitar was all he chose to take
In the monrin’ light… as he drove away
She knew he’d be comin’ back some day

That First Guitar

I still remember the smell as I opened the lid
It was my first guitar and I was just a kid
My daddy bought it for me cause I learned on his
Bet he never dreamed it would come to this
I sure hope he knew how much I loved him
And that First Guitar

I practiced “I’m a Pilgrim” and the “Old Rugged Cross”
I played along with Chet’s old hymns on the Magnavox
I learned E A & B and C F & G
I’d play the chords daddy’d play the melody
Oh how he loved to hear my play
That First Guitar

I come from a long line of fenders
But none of them as fine as that first one
She was baby blue put a smile on my face
I’d swell with pride and take her out of the case
None since then I’ve played could ever replace
That First Guitar

Outside a room in Dallas somebody robbed my van
They took my first guitar and nearly all I had
We buried daddy in ‘97
I had a dream he was up in heaven
Playin’ while the angels sang along
On that First Guitar

I come from a long line of fenders
But none of them as fine as that first one
She was baby blue put a smile on my face
I’d swell with pride and take her out of the case
None since then I’ve played could ever replace
That First Guitar

That First Guitar

If I'm Dreamin'

Just like déjà vu
She walked into the room
I couldn’t help but stare I’d seen her somewhere

Then I thought you fool
She’s your dream come true
Her eyes her face her hair your dream girl’s standin’ there

I held her like a cloud
We floated cross the floor
She fit into my arms like no one else before

Pinch me so I’ll see
If this is just a dream
I look into her eyes she’s lookin back at me

If I’m dreamin’ don’t wake me up
If I’m dreamin’ don’t spoil my fun
There’s no reason to take my dream girl away
If I’m dreamin’ don’t wake me up

In the morning things were so unclear
Was she really here or was it in my mind
On the pillow by my head there lay a note that read
Thanks for the dance see ya next time

If I’m dreamin’ don’t wake me up
If I’m dreamin’ don’t spoil my fun
There’s no reason to take my dream girl away
If I’m dreamin’ don’t wake me up
If I’m dreamin’ don’t wake me up

The Fairytale "Princes & the Poor Boy"

She was the king that’s had the finer things in life
What she saw in me I’ll never really know
But if Aphrodite ever did her job she did with us
Cause one day I looked up to her hello
And it grew bigger than the both of us and took us by surprise
She’d been burned at love and given up and I swore so had I
And I’d heard about those fairytales but I never dreamed I’d find
A princess who wanted to be mine

We talked for hours on the telephone
In a week we’d been the best of friends for likfe
And she became the flower of the love I’d never grown
And one night I asked her to be my wife
I said I can’t offer you a lot but I promise I’ll provide
With Gods help and a little luck know we’ll survive
Thru tears and fears she answered my softly with a kiss
Held my face in her hands and whispered yes

From Porshes & horses to a chevy pick up truck
I can’t give her much but all she wants is love
There’s no mansion on a hilltop with walls built of stone
And the diamond on her finger is the only one we own
But she knows that she owns my heart and I want nothing more
Than to give her more love than I did the day begore
It’s the stuff fairytales are made of …
A Princess and a poor boy fell in love

Before long tow little ones were playin’ in the yard
At night we’d read’em stories while Puff the hound kept guard
And once upon a time as rare as it may seem
A boy and girld live out their dream

From Porshes & horses to a chevy pick up truck
I can’t give her much but all she wants is love
There’s no mansion on a hilltop with walls built of stone
And the diamond on her finger is the only one we own
But she knows that she owns my heart and I want nothing more
Than to give her more love than I did the day begore
It’s the stuff fairytales are made of …
A Princess and a poor boy fell in love

I Feel No Fear

You’ve been wondrin’ where we’re goin’
Down the road of love or just for a little ride
I’d been hurt my pain was showin’
I wouldn’t let your love inside

But time can heal and you’ve been patient
To bring me back from where I’ve been
You built my trust with your persuasion
I never thought I’d love again…     But

Tonight… Tonight belongs to you girl
Candlelight… And whispers in your ear
The time is right
There’ll be no holdin’ back on what I feel
Cause tonight…. I feel no fear

I like the way that I’m myself with you
I’m tired of all those silly games
Like actin’ tough a man shouldn’t have to
And I know you feel the same

And now we’re movin’ to a faster lane
The walls I built are fallin’ all apart
I think I’ve jumped on board a runaway train
I hope you’re cautious with my heart….  Cause

Tonight… Tonight belongs to you girl
Candlelight… And whispers in your ear
The time is right
There’ll be no holdin’ back on what I feel
Cause tonight…. I feel no fear

You  burned your love so deep inside me
The fire became a blazing light

Tonight… Tonight belongs to you girl
Candlelight… And whispers in your ear
The time is right
There’ll be no holdin’ back on what I feel
Cause tonight…. I feel no fear

I feel no fear

Heart of Stone

It was obvious she liked what she saw
We hit the door after dancing one slow song
Her perfume and Victorias Secret Lace
Had me wild as we drove out of that place

We spent a night of passion undenied
There were things we did I’d never tried
But in the morning light I knew I’d been used
She was cool as she slipped into her shoes

Some ruthless lover had been there before
She shared her body with me but not her sould
He left behind an empty mine hard and cold
He stole the jewels and left her with a heart of stone
A heart of stone A heart of Stone A heart of stone

I searched for something precious in her eyes
Chipped away at the layers to get inside
But all I found were cold hard walls of stone
There was a house but noone was at home

Some ruthless lover had been there before
She shared her body with me but not her sould
He left behind an empty mine hard and cold
He stole the jewels and left her with a heart of stone
A heart of stone A heart of Stone A heart of stone

Some ruthless lover had been there before
She shared her body with me but not her sould
He left behind an empty mine hard and cold
He stole the jewels and left her with a heart of stone

Some ruthless lover had been there before
She shared her body with me but not her sould
He left behind an empty mine hard and cold
He stole the jewels and left her with a heart of stone
A heart of stone A heart of Stone A heart of stone

A heart of stone   A heart of stone
A heart of stone   A heart of stone

A heart of stone

Sometimes You Still Cry

Even though you never call me
Even though you never write
I know somewhere inside a part of me
Will remain with you for life

Even though I haven’t seen you
For all these years I can feel
Ev’ry now and then you think of us
And wonder was it real

Even though you’d never tell me
But I know you’d never like
Even though you’re always smiling
I know sometimes you still cry

I think of all we meant together
Even though I hate the pain
I’ll treasure all of it forever
And I’d do it all the same

Even though you had your reasons
You can’t say I didn’t try
I know you made your best decision
But you know sometimes I still cry

Even though you’d never tell me
But I know you’d never like
Even though you’re always smiling
I know sometimes you still cry

Even though you’d never tell me
But I know you’d never like
Even though you’re always smiling
I know sometimes you still cry

Can I Turn You On Tonight

The fighting’s all over what’s done is done
We rolled in the clover We loved in the sun
But love left us long ago
Now all we’ve been living is some kind of lie
Can I turn you on tonight
Just for the old times

It’s been years since we made love but oh what a fire
We burned up that midnight sky with flames of desire
But somehow it all turned cold
And all of the flames seem to flicker and die
Can I turn you on tonight
Just for the old times

Can I turn you on tonight is there still a fire
No question of wrong or right just one of desire
The stars are all shining bright
I feel your heart beating so close to mine
Can I turn you on tonight just for the old times

I still love to dance with you you hold me so tight
As we move across the floor my head’s feelin’ light
I know that it’s been quite a while
But would you be willing to kiss me and try
Can I turn you on tonight
Just for the old times

Talk To Me Tonight

I know that you’ve got someone
Who listens when you talk
Someone who gently holds you
While you share your thoughts
You say that there’s a wall between us we can’t get around
But if there’s a wall then help me tear it down

Talk to me tonight
Tell me how you feel
Slowly through the night
I’ll show you love that’s real
Let me be the one
Layin’ by your side
Open up your heart…Lay here in my arms and
Talk to me tonight

There’s times at night I watch you
Sleeping by my side
And wish that I could really know
What’s going through your mind
The dreams you used to share with me when we were so in love
Are being shared in someone elses arms

Talk to me tonight
Tell me how you feel
Slowly through the night
I’ll show you love that’s real
Let me be the one
Layin’ by your side
Open up your heart…Lay here in my arms and
Talk to me tonight

Let me be the one
Layin’ by your side
Open up your heart…Lay here in my arms and
Talk to me tonight
Open up your heart… Lay here in my arms and
Talk to me tonight

We Held On

It’s a miracle…we’re together still
After all life’s put us through
It’s unbelievable… How love can conquer all
And I’d do it all again with you
Time teaches us to love
And I thank god for time with you
And after all in this world is said and done
Love is all we have to hold on to

And we held on… Through the hard times
We grew strong… in our hearts and in our minds
Like the clingin’ roots from an old oak tree
Love grabbed hold and clung to you and me
And we held on…we held on

You knew I had a dream… so you gave ev’rything
To help me make those dreams come true
But somewhere along the way I realized I had it made
And all along my dream was you
Time teaches us to love
And I’ve had one fine time with you
And after all in this world is said and done
Love is all we have to hold on to

And we held on through the hard times
We grew strong in our hearts and in our minds
Like the clingin’ roots from an old oak tree
Love grabbed hold and clung to you and me
And we held on… we held on
